Study in Kyrgyz State Medical Academy

The Kyrgyzstan state medical academy is the leader in the medical education in the Kyrgyzstan Republic and most dynamically developing a high school of central Asia. The KSMA employs 473 teachers including 101 professors and doctors of medical sciences 358 candidates of medical sciences are senior lectures. The academy trains more than 3000 students that citizens of Kyrgyzstan, countries of the CIS and other 14 foreign countries. For the time of its operation, the KSMA has produced more than 25000 doctors and experts of associated professions. The Kyrgyzstan state medical academy was opened on 1st September 1939 in the city of Bishkek (Formerly FRUNZE) with the recruitment of 200 students. The establishment of the academy was invaluably contributed to the first Moscow Medical Institute, high medical schools of Saint- Petersburg. Almaty, Tashkent and other medical institutions as well. They provided expertise and the organizational assistance, medical guidelines and training books, as well as faculty, stops to do a full-time job for the institute.

About University

Departments of CPSU (Communist Party of the Soviet Union) history and political economy. Regular Anatomy, Biology, Histology. General Chemistry, Physics, Foreign languages and others where opened. 16 teachers worked at these departments. The second KHARKOV general medicine and Dentistry institute and the Moscow dentistry Institute where evacuated to Kyrgyzstan during the great patriotic war (world war and), which caused hardships in the institutes performance. Terms of training were shortened to 4.4,5 years. However by 1943 the Kyrgyzstan state medical academy had produced the first 250 doctors.

In 60 ies the institute started a program controlled of proficiency with technical means employed. This period had send the development of scientific backups for gaining expertise in disciplines such as elements of training, levels of their mastering, graphology structures etc.

In connection to structural changes in 1996 the institute was recognized by the decree of president of Kyrgyzstan by the decree of president of Kyrgyzstan republic to become the Kyrgyzstan state medical academy. The administration took measures to ensure academy’s transition in to market economy reflecting in a contractual system of training. At that, modernization of educational methodical and research process have been, under way. In 2000 the KSMA started introduction of new curricula designed in line with international standards.

International students live in the student’s hostel located close to the institution, in well – arranged and furnished single or double rooms. A hostel is a form of budget accommodation with low prices and an informal atmosphere, where a good night’s sleep is deemed more important than luxury frills. It is the policy of our academy to provide accommodation for international students for at least their first year at the academy. The various student’s houses are located with an easy walking distance of institute in a pleasant residential area off-campus housing can be obtained nearly apartments the academy have rented own apartment’s for student’s, so you don’t need to search your private flats in the city. Students are allowed room with a bed, mattress. Blanket and bed-sheet with furniture. A section contains four rooms with toilet and bathroom each the rooms are well wallpapered and reconstructed. Laundry is provided for needed students once a week.


The hostel provides mess system feeding cooked by an Indian cook with Indian spices and Indian taste. This includes breakfast Lunch and Dinner. Self- interested students could make food by own self as the hostel is supplied with Gas in the Kitchen for every floor.


The climate is cold and temperate. The rain in Bishkek falls mostly in the winter, with relatively little rain in the summer. This location is classified as Dsa by Köppen and Geiger. The average annual temperature in Bishkek is 10.4 °C. The average annual rainfall is 427 mm.
